To begin 2020, upgraded amenities, administration centre, canteen, and parking facilities became operational along with the opening of the Interpretive Centre and new stud stock selling arena featuring state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities.
Shortly after steers sold for 400c/kg, a price not seen for almost two years, and this was just the beginning of a record-breaking year. Prices continued to skyrocket and ended with a top price record of 630c/kg for steers and male weaners during the final Store Sale for 2020.
Mayor Tyson Golder said this is an example that Roma Saleyards delivers higher prices and better competition for producers.
"On behalf of Council, I would like to thank all stakeholders for supporting Australia's largest cattle selling centre and look forward to continuing great work in 2021," Cr Golder said.
The Interpretive Centre will remain open 7 days from 8am to 5pm, including public holidays, over the Christmas break. The first Store Sale for 2021 is scheduled for Tuesday, 12 January 2021, commencing at 8am.
