Injune & Surrounds

Overview
Injune is a thriving town located at the base of the Carnarvon Gorge and close to a number of CSG fields. Perfectly positioned for easy access to spectacular views and natural landscapes, as well as a hub for resource sector activities, Injune has a diverse industry base.

Geographical Location
A 90km drive north of Roma on the Carnarvon Highway, Injune is situated 173km south of Rolleston and 224km west of Taroom.

Key Industry Sectors
The Injune community has benefited from the development of the CSG industry thanks to its close proximity to the Arcadia Valley, Fairview, and Spring Gully gas fields. The town is ideally located to service the CSG workforce, and has housed a significant number of workers over the last three years (non-resident workers accounted for approximately 25% of the town’s population in 2014).

In addition to the CSG and agricultural sectors, tourism is a key contributor to Injune’s economy. The Carnarvon Gorge National Park is a major regional attraction, with significant tourist visitation throughout the year. Although the park is outside of the Maranoa, Injune experiences significant visitor spending due to its close proximity to the attraction. About 90 vehicles enter the national park on a daily basis and an estimated 32,850 tourists visit the park every year.

Injune has a variety of businesses and services within the township. These include government services, hairdresser, newsagency, hardware, clothing and gifts, rural supplies, post office, banking and QGAP services.

Eumamurrin & Bymount
Situated between Roma and Injune is Eumamurrin, a long established community supported by a strong agriculture industry.
Only 26.7 km south of Injune on the Carnarvon Highway, Bymount boasts a stable agriculture sector and a primary school.
