the first time since 1994, the Rotary International District 9630 Conference
will be held in Roma and will showcase the Maranoa.
Roma welcomes approximately 400 visitors from Queensland's south and invites
local community members to explore the Rotary Showcase, highlighting the local
and international, charitable and social programs of Rotary and to experience
high profile guest speakers.
Large areas of Australia and Queensland are experiencing the effects of
drought. Many localities in our District namely St George, Mitchell, Roma,
Charleville, Miles and Chinchilla are suffering the effects of this devastating
District Governor John saw an opportunity to support the drought affected
people and focus attention on their situation.
As "All Roads Lead to ROMA" by holding the Conference in Roma we hope
to boost the economy and at the same time highlight the suffering and hardships
being experienced by the community.
The conference runs from Friday to Sunday and is being held in the Roma Bungil
Cultural Community Centre.
Rotary has decided that all proceeds from the Conference will go towards the
district drought relief fund.
