Rip-roaring bush racing comes to town, Saturday, 21 November with the much loved Roma Cup bringing ute-loads of fun to the Maranoa – the gateway to the outback.
Now in its 51st year, the Roma Cup is a blend of fashion, friendship, live entertainment and the chance to see some of Queensland’s best thoroughbreds hit the track.
Be sure to head to Bassett Park by midday to avoid missing out on the eight races, including the signature Roma Cup, a thrilling twice around the track test of staying power. Gates open at 11am.
If you’re more interested in competition of another kind, glamorous race-goers and fashionistas will be strutting their stuff from 12.30pm on race day in the Fashions on the Field marquee.
Fondly known as the Snake Pitt, the main stage will open at 7pm with Golden Child covering all of your favourite hits, followed by feature band King Social. This chart-topping Australian hip hop band incorporate everything from electric fiddles to the didgeridoo.
A stellar line-up on the inside track from 6pm serves up a delicious assortment of toe-tapping tunes, with songs to suit all tastes. The mini-festival format features Transvaal Diamond Syndicate, Jamie Reyne, The Royal Artillery and Kallidad.
