Council supports mental health awareness this September

On Saturday, 10 September community members are invited to attend the combined event in support of World Suicide Prevention and R U Ok Day to help shed light on mental illness and suicide.

Located at the Big Rig from 10am to 2pm, attendees can listen to a variety of guest speakers, enjoy a sausage sizzle, jumping castle, toddler tent, face painting, train and mini-fire engine rides, painting and lots more!

Councillor Janelle Stanford, Portfolio Chair for Community & Social Services said suicide affects a number of people in our community.

“With suicide affecting our community, and more than 2,500 people dying by suicide in Australia every year, it is important residents know that there is local support to help them through the tough times,” Cr Stanford said.

“As there will be a number of local services available on the day, I encourage everyone to come along and have fun, while also taking the opportunity to talk to experts about mental health and suicide prevention.”
