The program, which is planned to start in the west of the region on Monday, 15 April, will see sections on almost 50 roads receive a new coat of bitumen. The program will include both rural roads and urban streets, with approximately 900,000 litres of bitumen being sprayed.
Councillor Janelle Stanford, Portfolio Chair for Rural Roads said that the reseal program is part of Council's ongoing commitment to preserving and enhancing our current bitumen road network.
"Bitumen resealing of our roads is critical for Council to reduce maintenance and extend the life of roads. Resealing is a proactive measure to ensure the road will perform its function for as long as possible," Cr Stanford said.
"The roads in this year's program were selected after road inspections took place across the region, taking into account the age and current condition, traffic counts and upcoming capital works programs."
Work will be planned to keep disruptions on roads to a minimum during the reseal program, however residents can expect short delays when sections of road are reduced to one lane or when detours of the worksite are in place.
Traffic management will be in place for the safety of both the workers and road users. Council asks that you please follow the direction of the traffic controllers and signs during this period.
For the urban/town works, letterbox drops will be completed in advance to advise those residents where bitumen sealing works will occur.
