Council has engaged MAK Planning and Design to manage the community engagement sessions for the Mitchell Park consultation.
Deputy Mayor Jan Chambers, Portfolio Chair for Community Engagement said Council is excited to see the plan progress with community engagement sessions.
"The sessions will happen on Thursday, 11 July 2019 from 12pm-1pm at Mitchell Memorial Park and 5pm-6pm at the Rotunda at Mitchell Memorial Park," Cr Chambers said.
"The goal of the sessions and feedback is to find out what our local community would like to see come to life with this plan.
"Residents have until Thursday, 25 July 2019 to give feedback. Scott Alston from MAK Planning and Design will take all the ideas submitted into consideration and draw a draft design of the new park. After the plans have been drawn, there will be another 2 week period for comment and suggestions on the design from the community engagement sessions and feedback."
Council has accepted an offer from KHB Construction Pty Ltd to donate a half basketball court, approximately 10 x 10 metres at the Mitchell Youth Precinct. This project will be included in the Mitchell Memorial Park Master Plan. Council will also continue to work with the community and Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway to develop and install a miniature cab replica and interpretive signage in the Mitchell Memorial Park.
If you are unable to attend either community engagement session, but would like to provide comments, please fill in the feedback form, available from Friday, 12 July 2019, online at www.maranoa.qld.gov.au/community-engagement/open-consultation, or by visiting Mitchell's Council Customer Service Centre.
