Duke Street South Reconstruction Project completed

As part of the 2018/19 Capital Upgrade Program, Duke Street South (Roma Southern Road), Roma, was upgraded with the construction of an underground stormwater system, concrete kerb and channel and a 15.5m wide asphalt pavement, between Raglan Street (Warrego Highway) and Corfe Road.

Deputy Mayor Jan Chambers, Portfolio Chair for Major Projects thanked the Department of Transport and Main Roads for their assistance throughout the works.

"It is great to see the project complete and the big transformation and improvement these works have made to Duke Street South. The construction team did a fantastic job!" Cr Chambers said. 

"We would also like to thank motorists and local residents for their ongoing cooperation and patience during the construction."

Furthermore, Council would like to acknowledge the affected adjacent businesses for the support and understanding that was provided to the construction team throughout the delivery of the project.

The Duke Street South Reconstruction Project, with a total cost of $2,810,692, is a joint initiative between Maranoa Regional Council, the Department of Transport and Main Roads and the Australian Government's Roads to Recovery Program which provided $281,408.
