Residents can make sure their pool is compliant by contacting Council and booking a FREE Council inspection today, normally valued at over $380.
Councillor Robyn Bryant, Portfolio Chair for Planning & Building, said pool safety is a major concern both locally and Australia-wide.
"As the country has seen many tragic incidents in backyard pools over the summer months, I encourage Maranoa pool owners to be proactive to help reduce preventable injuries and fatalities," Cr Bryant said.
"Although your pool may have been inspected recently, pool fencing can easily displace due to the movement of soil. Over 40% of pools inspected in December failed to comply with safety standards, putting our residents at risk."
Pool owners will not be fined if their pool is found to be non-compliant through the free inspection process.
Swimming pools include any above or below ground structure principally used for swimming or bathing, including some types of portable pools and spas.
To book a pool safety inspection, contact Council's Building Certification Team on 1300 007 662.
