Get ready for a heroic dogs day out this October

The theme of the day is ‘Heroes’ and owners and their pooches are encouraged to dress up, with a prize for best dressed dog.

Councillor Puddy Chandler, Portfolio Chair for Community Safety, says this event is a great way to promote responsible pet ownership and ensure our pets and community stay safe.

“A Dogs Day Out is more than just an opportunity to catch up with friends and give your dogs a run around the park - the event is also about making sure the wellbeing of our pets is a top priority,” Cr Chandler said.

“The RSPCA Educational Mobile Unit will be visiting on the day, demonstrating to community members the level of care and commitment needed for our domestic pets and animals.

“Be sure to come along with your furry heroes and enjoy what is going to be an action packed Dogs Day Out!”

A number of stalls displaying pet products and information will be there on the day, and the Maranoa Veterinary Surgery will be offering a reduced microchipping fee of $30.

Pet owners can chat with local vets and natural therapists about their dog’s health to help keep them happy and active.

The Brisbane Sporting Dog Club will provide demonstrations on dog obedience and help future pooch owners decide which dog will best suit their family.

A Dogs Day Out will be taking place at Lions Park on Powell Street where food and festivities will be available from 10am – 2pm.
