Help shape the region's future: Maranoa Planning Scheme now available for feedback

Residents are invited to review and provide feedback on the draft Maranoa Planning Scheme – the document which will ensure a consistent approach to future development across the region.

The draft document is now open for public consultation until Friday, 26 October 2016. During this time, community members and other interested parties are encouraged to provide feedback to Council prior to the draft scheme progressing to the next stage of review.

Councillor Robyn Bryant, Portfolio Chair for Planning and Building said the new planning scheme is set to take away some of the complexity and confusion that exists with the current scheme, replacing the five separate planning schemes that have been in place since before 2008.

“Council is now very close to having a consistent planning scheme in place for the entire Maranoa – this is a very exciting step and is the culmination of the huge effort undertaken by Council over many years,” Cr Bryant said.

“As the planning scheme has been prepared to manage and support future development in the region, it is important for residents to have input. I encourage anyone interested to please attend one of the information sessions, or review the document and provide feedback.”

On designated days during the consultation period, Council’s town planners will be based at information kiosks at various locations throughout the region. Residents are invited to attend any of the following drop-in information sessions to discuss and enquire about the draft planning scheme:
