Roma Library goes tech-savvy with opening of new training room

The room provides the public with access to 10 laptops, 8 iPads and a large screen TV that can be connected for presentations - all with free Wi-Fi!

Designed specifically as a training room for community groups, the room has already been used by a number of local organisations and various programs run by the Library.

Councillor Janelle Stanford, Portfolio Chair for Community & Social Services said the goal was to create a high-tech space that community groups can use for free.

"The Roma Library's new training space is now an ideal venue for training sessions, workshops and meetings with the ability of seating approximately 20 or more people," Cr Stanford said.

"With free Wi-Fi and high quality computer facilities available, I encourage community groups and organisations to take advantage of this fantastic space."

Santos' Maranoa Regional Manager Andrew Snars said: "As a long term member of the community, Santos was pleased to make a meaningful contribution towards the library upgrades which will meet their current and future needs."

Free Wi-Fi is also available at the Injune, Surat and Mitchell Libraries. To use the Wi-Fi please ask the librarian for a password before connecting.

To book the Roma Library Training Room, please call Council on 1300 007 662. Bookings are essential.

This project was funding by Maranoa Regional Council ($30,000) and Santos ($50,000).
